This is an important stage in your child development, as it during this stage that your child learns to become social. As early as 8 months social development will be practiced as we encourage your child to become aware of themselves as a serperate individual from others. As your child progresses they will grow in self-confidenace by communicating with other children when playing and making friends. During this journy we will teach them how to manage their feelings and behaviour as they learn what is and is not accpetable for example sharing.
We will use fun and active ways to develop your child's movement, handling and self-care. Activities such as pulling on on climbing frames, drawing pictures and dancing all help to progress these key skills.
Your child will learn to coordinate large and small movements as they progress through each milestone of walking, catching a ball and handling tools. As well as these key skill your child will learn life skills such as washing hands and putting on their coat.
We will help your child to learn to communicate in various different ways for example through speech, body language or facial expressions.
Through fun games and activiites such as stories and rhymes children will learn to listen, show interst and recognition.
As your child progresses we will work with them to develop an understanding and expression of simple concepts such as big and small.
Personal, Social & Emotional
We will work with your child on to develop skills on how to read and write. Throughout this stage child will gain an understanding on simple sentences adn will be able to discuss subjects they have heard.
We encourage children to select books from are reading areas that like to read. While daily art sand crafts aid htem in developing their co-ordination they will need to begin writing, such as playing with dough which will strenghten the muscles in their hands to enable them to control a pencil.
Children will develop mathematical skills though the use of simple games as they explore numbers, shapes and space.
As they begin to count and measure, they will be encouraged to place numbers in order and our out which number are more or less than others. Later we will help them compare quantities and objects to solve problems.
We will teach yoru child about the world around them, how to describe plants, animals and onjects and to understand the differences between them.
We will help them to talk about events in their own lives and families and we develop awareness of the cultures and beliefs of others.
Your child will begin to understand how technology is used with hands on experiences to stimulate their learning.
Communication & Language
Understanding the World
This creative learning stage stimulates the imagination of yoru child and will teach them to explore and express themselves.
They will learn to represent their thoughts, feelings and ideas through fun activities that will build confidence such as art, music and stories.
We will encourage and teach safe use of a variety of tools, materials and techniques so they are able to experiment with making collages and mixing colours.
